📱 The basics — what it is and how it works 5 questions
01
What is an eSIM? Is it different from a regular SIM?
+

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into your smartphone — not a physical card to insert, but a chip already soldered inside the phone that gets "programmed" via a digital profile.

Instead of going to a shop, waiting for a physical SIM to be handed over and inserting it into the phone, with an eSIM you: buy online, receive a QR code by email, scan it in 2 minutes in your phone's settings, and you're connected.

The practical result: no queues, no physical SIM card to keep track of, no risk of losing the chip. And you can have it active before you even leave the house.

How it works
02
Does my phone support eSIM? How do I check?
+

Most smartphones sold from 2019 onwards support eSIM. Here are the most common models:

iPhone: XS, XS Max, XR and all later models (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and Pro/Max). The iPhone 14 sold in the USA is eSIM-only, with no physical slot.

Samsung: Galaxy S20, S21, S22, S23, S24 and later. Note: not all models sold in certain Asian markets support eSIM — check the specs for your region.

Google Pixel: Pixel 3 and later.

How to check: go to Settings → Mobile network (or Cellular) → if you see the option "Add eSIM" or "Add data plan", your phone supports it.

If you're unsure, contact us with your phone model and year — we'll reply within minutes.

Compatibility
03
How do I install it? Is it complicated?
+

No, it's surprisingly simple. Here are the exact steps:

1. Buy the eSIM on BLIVALE — you receive the QR code by email within a few minutes.

2. On your phone: Settings → Mobile network → Add eSIM (or "Add data plan").

3. Scan the QR code with the camera.

4. Confirm activation. Done.

The whole process takes about 2 minutes. You can do it comfortably at home before you leave — so when you land you're already connected without doing anything.

On iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add data plan → Use QR code.

On Android/Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add mobile plan.

Installation
04
Can I use it alongside my home SIM? Will I keep my number?
+

Yes, you can use both at the same time. Modern smartphones are dual SIM — one physical SIM (your home number) + one eSIM (BLIVALE). They work in parallel.

In practice: your home number stays active to receive calls and SMS. Data goes through the BLIVALE eSIM — faster, unlimited and with no extra costs.

One mandatory step before you leave: disable data roaming on your home SIM. Otherwise the phone might use it for data instead of the eSIM, and you'll get the bill shock you're trying to avoid.

On iPhone: Settings → Cellular → tap the home SIM → disable "Data Roaming".

Usage
05
Is the BLIVALE eSIM truly unlimited or do they throttle the connection?
+

It's truly unlimited, with no FUP (Fair Use Policy). There is no threshold after which we slow your connection down to 64 kbps the way Airalo, Holafly and most competitors do.

Full speed for the entire duration of the plan — whether you're streaming Netflix at the hotel, doing work video calls or using Google Maps for hours.

The only caveat we always state honestly: "normal personal use". Our eSIMs are not designed for people running servers, doing P2P downloads 24 hours a day or trying to resell the connection. For everything else — travel, remote work, tourism — no limits, no surprises.

Unlimited & FUP
Why we're honest about the FUP: almost every competitor sells "unlimited" eSIMs with a FUP buried in the footnotes. We say it clearly — and the difference shows on day three of your trip when maps are still loading without a problem.
✈️ Before you leave — activation and coverage 4 questions
06
How long does activation take? Can I buy it at the last minute?
+

The QR code arrives by email within minutes of purchase. Installation on the phone takes about 2 minutes. Total: less than 10 minutes from completing payment to an active connection.

You can buy it the evening before you leave, or even while you're already at the airport (as long as you still have Wi-Fi). The key is to install it while you're still connected to the internet — once you've landed in a foreign country without data you might have difficulty scanning the QR.

Tip: install it at home before you leave. That way you're already online when you land — no waiting, no queues, no hassle.

Timing
07
How many countries does it work in? Does it work in [specific country]?
+

BLIVALE eSIMs cover over 190 countries worldwide. The most popular destinations — Japan, USA, Thailand, UK, UAE, Australia, Bali, South Korea — are all included.

Each product page lists exactly the supported countries with specific coverage details. Always check the list before buying — especially for less common destinations or multi-country itineraries.

If you're planning a trip across multiple countries (e.g. Japan → South Korea → Thailand), contact us: we'll point you to the most convenient solution for your specific itinerary.

Coverage
08
Can I make calls and receive SMS with the BLIVALE eSIM?
+

BLIVALE Unlimited eSIMs are data SIMs — they do not include a phone number for traditional calls or SMS.

In practice this is not a problem, because with an unlimited data connection you can do everything over the internet:

Calls and video calls: WhatsApp, FaceTime, Google Meet, Teams, Zoom — all work perfectly with the BLIVALE unlimited connection.

SMS: WhatsApp, iMessage (with data connection), Telegram.

Your home number: keep it active on the physical SIM with data roaming disabled — you'll continue to receive calls and SMS on your normal number.

Calls
09
Does it work on a plane? Can I use it during the flight?
+

The eSIM is like any other mobile connection — on a plane you need to enable aeroplane mode (or follow the airline's instructions). This has nothing to do with the eSIM itself.

Some airlines offer paid on-board Wi-Fi — in that case you can connect to the plane's Wi-Fi normally, but the BLIVALE eSIM does not cover the aircraft's satellite connection.

The ideal time to install the eSIM: before boarding, at home or at the airport using Wi-Fi. When you land, disable aeroplane mode and you're already connected with BLIVALE.

Usage
🌏 During the trip — practical use 4 questions
10
Can I install the eSIM on multiple devices? What about a tablet?
+

Each eSIM is tied to a single device — you cannot install it on a smartphone and a tablet at the same time.

Practical solution: install the eSIM on your smartphone and share the connection via hotspot with a tablet, laptop or other devices. BLIVALE's unlimited connection supports hotspot without any issue — you can work from your laptop at the hotel using the phone as a modem.

If you need independent connectivity on multiple devices at the same time (e.g. phone and tablet used simultaneously in different places), buy two separate eSIMs.

Multi-device
11
Can I share the connection (hotspot/tethering)?
+

Yes. Hotspot works normally with BLIVALE Unlimited eSIMs. You can connect laptops, tablets and other devices to your phone and use the connection for work, watching content or browsing.

Hotspot use falls under "normal personal use" — so no problem, no additional restrictions compared to using it directly on the phone.

Hotspot
12
What happens if I lose or break my phone during the trip?
+

The installation QR code is sent by email — you always have access to your inbox. If you get a new compatible device, you can reinstall the eSIM by scanning the QR code again.

Note: some phone models only allow the same eSIM to be installed once — in that case contact our support and we'll help you manage the situation.

Practical tip: save the email with the QR code offline (screenshot or photo) before you leave. That way you have it even without a connection.

Emergency
13
When is the best time to buy the eSIM? Can I buy it at the last moment?
+

You can buy it up to the last second before boarding — the QR arrives within minutes and installation takes 2 minutes.

The only thing you can't do is install it without an internet connection — so if you're already on the plane in aeroplane mode with no on-board Wi-Fi, wait until you land and install it as soon as you have signal (or airport Wi-Fi).

The ideal moment: buy and install the day before you leave, at home, without rushing. That way you depart already connected and don't have to think about it.

🎯 Choosing — which plan is right for you 2 questions
14
eSIM or local SIM at the airport — which is actually better?
+

It depends on how much your time is worth and how much you hate queuing.

Local SIM at the airport: often cheap (€5–20), but it requires 20–60 minutes queuing in a foreign language, a physical SIM swap (and where do you put your home SIM?), and almost always includes hidden FUP or data limits buried in the terms. You arrive tired and hungry — and still have to queue at the SIM counter.

BLIVALE eSIM: buy from home, install in 2 minutes, and when you land you're already connected while everyone else is still waiting in line. Truly unlimited, no surprises. Keep your home SIM active for calls.

For destinations like Japan, Thailand and the USA — where airport SIMs can be expensive or involve complicated processes — an eSIM is almost always the better choice.

Comparison
15
Which BLIVALE plan should I choose for my trip?
+

It depends on the length and type of trip:

eSIM Unlimited 10 Days → perfect for 7–10 day holidays. The most popular choice for people visiting Japan, USA or Thailand for one or two weeks.

eSIM Unlimited Premium → for long stays, digital nomads or people working remotely abroad. Maximum duration, maximum speed — worry-free.

eSIM Unlimited Smart → for frequent travellers who want flexibility. Affordable and easy to manage for people who fly several times a month.

If you're not sure, write to us: we'll tell you in 5 minutes which solution is right for your specific itinerary.

Plan choice
Always remember before you leave: disable data roaming on your home SIM. It's the step many people forget — and the one that generates the bill shock you're trying to avoid. Settings → Cellular → [home SIM] → Data Roaming: OFF.
